“The situation could not be predicted by the airline.”
The Belavia plane on the Minsk-Kaliningrad flight, which was operated on November 24, returned to the capital's airport. The airline commented on the incident to BelTA.
“During the operation of flight B2 949 Minsk-Kaliningrad on the Embraer-195 plane, the cover layer of one of the cockpit windows cracked. In accordance with the current instructions, the aircraft commander decided to make a forced return to the base airport of Minsk. The plane landed at the Minsk National Airport at 13.18. There was no threat to the health and safety of passengers,” the airline informed.
Another aircraft was provided to operate the flight. At 16.25 the plane took off from Minsk National Airport, at 17.50 (local time) the plane landed safely in Kaliningrad. Passengers of delayed flights in Kaliningrad and Minsk were provided with drinks and food in accordance with the current rules.
“Cracking of the cockpit glass is a situation that occurs randomly and cannot be predicted by the airline. Cracking of the cover layer of the cockpit windshield without damage to the power elements does not affect the safety of the flight and passengers,” Belavia explained.
The airline apologizes to passengers of delayed flights for the inconvenience.
