Belarusians Boycott Conscription Into Lukashenka's Army

They do not show up for medical examinations.

In March 2024, a resident of Baranavichy received a summons, which he certified with his own signature. On the specified day, he was supposed to show up for a medical examination at the military registration and enlistment office, but he never did.

According to the local publication “Nash Krai”, the man had no “valid reasons” for skipping the draft.

“ At the court hearing, the accused admitted his guilt in full. The court of the Baranavichy district and the city of Baranavichy found him guilty of evading conscription for military service,” said assistant to the Baranavichy inter-district prosecutor Kiryla Danilyuk.

As a result, the accused was sentenced to 360 hours of community service. The sentence has not yet entered into force.

Earlier in August, a 19-year-old guy was tried in Slutsk for evading conscription. He was sentenced to three months of arrest. In May 2023, a resident of the Minsk region did not show up at the military registration and enlistment office on the day of dispatch to the place of service. Six months later, a trial took place, the verdict was a fine of 150 base fees (at that time 5,550 rubles).
