Russian Military Fleeing Northern Syria

The Russian Federation is abandoning important bases.

Russian servicemen have left bases in the settlements of Kobani and Manbij, located in northern Syria. This is reported by The Washington Post (WP) with reference to local media.

According to WP journalists, units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation occupied the former base of US troops in the city of Manbij in 2019 after the US military left it. It follows from the material that Russian servicemen used the facility as a staging point while patrolling the area.

The base in the city of Kobani, in turn, was designed to monitor the ceasefire agreement on the border between Turkey and Syria. We are talking about the agreements that Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan reached in March 2020.

‘Russian troops are already leaving bases in Manbij and Kobani, Syria's North Press Agency reported on Monday,’ The Washington Post said.
