Lukoil Oil Refinery In Volgograd Catches Fire

An explosion preceded it.

A large-scale fire broke out at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Volgograd on January 15. The refinery belongs to Lukoil.

This was reported by Astra.

Around four in the morning local time, a fire broke out at the local Lukoil oil refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. Local residents reported hearing an explosion online.

Russian emergency services confirmed in a comment to Russian media that a fire had broken out at the refinery. However, Russians claim that the cause of the fire was internal problems at the plant, not external influences.

“Unit No. 18 and two heat exchangers caught fire at the refinery. Now everything has been extinguished, there are no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident, the exact causes of the fire are being established, but it is already known that the fire occurred as a result of an emergency situation, in no way connected with any external influence,” the statement says.
