The economist believes that this process could start in the Russian Federation.

Dzmitry Kruk, a senior researcher at the BEROC economic center, discussed on the air of the “Ordinary Morning” show whether a sharp devaluation is possible in Belarus.

The expert believes that the ruble exchange rate in Belarus could fall in 2025:

“ I won’t say that the probability is very high now. In this case, the problem could come from Russia, since Belarus is currently on a very flexible link with the Russian ruble. And if new oil sanctions against Russia prove effective, the Russian ruble will allow fluctuations, and the Belarusian ruble will not go anywhere, and will follow it.”
