Level Of Fuel In Cars From Belarus To Be Measured At Lithuanian Border

So far it will concern only lorry transport.

Lithuanian customs officers intend to measure the level of fuel in the tanks of lorries entering the country from Belarus and Russia, reported the Lithuanian customs authorities.

Such a procedure will be carried out at border checkpoints.

We are talking about cars, which primarily go through the country in transit. And measuring the volume of fuel in the tanks will be carried out directly at the border crossing.

The reasoning behind such a measure is simple: to prevent the use of fuel not for its intended purpose, i.e. for sale.

‘According to customs officers, these lorries driven by drivers from third countries, passing through Lithuania, often choose illogical routes, stop and move around the country with unclear purposes. Because of this, their transit journey takes several times longer than it should in case of optimal and logical route planning,’ the statement said.

If the violation is detected, the driver will face a fine and confiscation of the car.
