Not everyone is so lucky.
The video, in which he falls under the ice of Yubileynaye Lake, has been sent to the department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations by a Hrodna resident.
While skating, the man decided to move further away to the bushes, where the ice was too thin. As a result, he fell under the water, but was able to get out on his own. However, not everyone is so lucky.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds you: to avoid tragedy on the ice, it is important to remember a few rules.
Ice at least 7 cm thick can hold a person, but it does not guarantee its strength. In general, the strength of ice can be determined by its colour:
blue - the strongest;
white is half as strong;
grey, matt white or yellowish tinge - unreliable.
Ice is especially thin in places with fast currents, river mouths, near bushes and reeds.
A lifejacket should be an obligatory element of safety.
