U.S. Politicians Sharply Criticize Trump's Statements On War, Ukraine And Zelensky

American politicians criticized the statements of US President Donald Trump about the war in Ukraine. In particular, the leader of the Democrats in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, commented on the allegation that the Ukrainians allegedly started the war themselves.
He called such accusations against Ukraine "disgusting." Associated Press reports.
Schumer said that it is disgusting to see the American president turn away “from one of his friends and openly take the side of such a thug as Putin.”
At the same time, former Vice President of Trump Mike Pence addressed the American leader on X saying that Ukraine did not start this war. He added that it was Russia that initiated the “unprovoked and brutal invasion, taking hundreds of thousands of lives.” He also noted that the path to peace should be built on the truth.
While Republican Congressman Mike Lawler wrote that Vladimir Putin is a vile dictator and certainly not an American friend or ally. He also opposed elections during the war because he believes the Kremlin can intervene and appoint a puppet president.
Democratic Senator Adam Schiff also spoke about Trump's statements.
“Not since Czechoslovakia has a democratic state been so betrayed by a western power,” Schiff wrote on X.
He also added that the appeasement of the Russian dictator Putin, whom Trump is trying to achieve, will remain in the memory.
In addition, a member of the House of Representatives and Trump's fellow party member Don Bacon said that this war was started by Putin, and Zelensky's rating is more than 50%. He added that the Russian dictator had killed his opponents and committed a number of war crimes.
He also noted that Ukraine wants to be part of the West, while Putin literally hates the West.
