Trudeau: Canada To Always Stand In Defence Of Ukraine

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed support for Ukraine against the background of recent statements by US President Donald Trump. This is written by the The Hill publication.

‘Canada and our allies unequivocally oppose Vladimir Putin's (Russian dictator, - ed.) illegal, immoral and unjust violations of international order. I look forward to sitting down with my European partners in a few hours to talk about how we will continue to unequivocally defend Ukraine and also defend the rules that keep us all safe,’ Trudeau said.

He spoke in defence of a ‘rules-based order’ that he said has kept the world safe for nearly a century.

‘Ukrainians are fighting and dying not only to defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity. They are also fighting to defend the rules-based order that has kept us all safe around the world for nearly 80 years,’ the Canadian prime minister said.

According to him, ‘a period of peace, stability, prosperity for the world’ was only because ‘we had rules about borders, about not invading your neighbours,’ which Russia, however, ‘decided to violate deliberately a few years ago’.

Trudeau assured that ‘Canada will always stand in defence of Ukraine’.
