Republicans Respond Harshly To Trump's Words About Ukraine

The US President is criticized by his fellow party members.

Representatives of the Republican Party are actively discussing online the scandalous statements by US President Donald Trump about the need to hold elections in Ukraine, the rating of President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Russian aggression. The New Voice website collected the reactions of Republican representatives.

Former US Vice President Mike Pence criticized Trump's statements, noting that it was Russia that launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“Mr. President, Ukraine did not “start” this war. Russia launched an unprovoked and brutal invasion claiming hundreds of thousands of lives. The Road to Peace must be built on the Truth,” he noted.

Republican congressman and retired general Don Bacon shares this opinion.

“(Russian dictator Vladimir — edit.) Putin started this war. Putin committed war crimes. Putin is the dictator who murdered his opponents. The EU nations have contributed more to Ukraine. Zelensky polls over 50%. Ukraine wants to be part of the West, Putin hates the West. I don’t accept George Orwell’s doublethink,” he wrote.

Republican Congressman Mike Lawler called Vladimir Putin “a vile dictator and thug”, who has worked in a concerted effort with China and Iran to undermine and destabilize the United States, Europe, Israel, and the free world.

Lawler underlined that he supported the effort to end the war in Ukraine, any deal towards peace must include Ukraine at the negotiating table, must “protect its structural sovereignty and that of its neighbors.”

Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker believes: “You cannot trust Putin. Putin is a war criminal who violated every principle of international law and should be in jail for the rest of his life, if not executed.”

According to Senator Lindsey Graham, “if history has taught us anything it’s that appeasing aggression gets you more aggression.

That was Chamberlain to Hitler and Biden and Obama to Putin.

I am confident that President Trump will end the Ukraine war quickly and in a fashion that will deter future aggression.”
