Unexpected Statement: British Populist Leader Calls For Ukraine To Join NATO

Leader of the British populist party Reform UK, former head of the Brexit Party Nigel Farage unexpectedly spoke out in support of Ukraine's accession to NATO.

Farage, whose party has taken first place in UK opinion polls, believes that Kyiv's rapprochement with the West should be part of a long-term solution. Farage spoke in London on Wednesday against the backdrop of the beginning of direct interaction between the US president and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

At a press conference, Farage, one of Donald Trump's close allies in Europe, said that “if we can get reasonable negotiations from Putin and Zelensky, I would say, looking ahead, that it is probably very important for Ukraine to join NATO.”

Later that evening, Farage reiterated his views on GB News, where he is a presenter, saying: “Ukraine joining NATO is almost an integral part of this peace deal.”
