The car of Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin was involved in a road accident in Yerevan. The diplomat and his driver received minor injuries, the press service of the Russian Embassy reported.
According to the diplomatic mission, the accident happened due to ‘difficult weather conditions’ in the city. Mr Kopyrkin and his driver received medical care, their health is not threatened, the embassy said.
Sergey Kopyrkin was appointed ambassador to Armenia by decree of president Vladimir Putin in April 2018. Prior to that, he worked at embassies in Cameroon (1985-1986), Niger (1986-1988), Rwanda (1990-1994) and the UK (2000-2005). From 2011-2018, he was Russia's Deputy Permanent Representative to the European Union.
