The date was announced by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
US President Donald Trump is confident that he will be able to agree to end the Russian-Ukrainian war within the next week. This was stated to reporters by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, The Hill writes.
“The president, his team are very much focused on continuing negotiations with both sides of this war to end the conflict and the president is very confident we can get it done this week,” Levitt said.
According to her, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz will be working on the agreement “around the clock” this weekend.
Levitt also emphasized that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent participated in discussions with the Ukrainian side on the proposed agreement on mineral extraction.
“When it comes to the critical minerals, this is an important piece for the president. It’s very important for the president, because it will recoup American tax dollars. And it also will be a great economic partnership between the United States of America and for the Ukrainian people as well as they rebuild their country following this brutal war,” Levitt emphasized.
Recall that on February 22, Reuters published an article that Ukraine would be disconnected from Starlink if it did not sign an agreement on rare earth minerals.
On the same day, Donald Trump said that either Ukraine signs an agreement on rare earth minerals, or Kyiv will have 'problems'.
