'Time To Tighten The Screws On Russia'

Britain is introducing the largest package of sanctions against Russia tomorrow.

The UK will announce a package of sanctions against Russia. The measures are aimed at strengthening support for Kyiv in the fight against Russian aggression.

This was reported by Deutsche Welle.

British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy said that on Monday, February 24, the largest package of sanctions against Russia since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war will be announced.

Lemmy noted that this is a "critical moment" for Ukraine, Great Britain and all of Europe, calling for increased support for Ukraine and continued work with American and European partners to achieve a fair peace. He stressed that "without Ukraine, nothing can happen in Ukraine."

"Now is the time to tighten the screws on Russia," Lemmy said in a statement.

In addition, the UK has already imposed sanctions on 1,900 individuals and entities linked to the Russian government since Moscow invaded Ukraine in 2022.

Lemmy also confirmed the decision to provide Kyiv with £3bn annually, and expressed readiness to send British troops as part of a peacekeeping force if necessary.

The sanctions were announced amid a shift in the US position, where President Donald Trump has sidelined Ukraine in recent weeks in talks with Moscow, strengthening the UK’s resolve to continue supporting Ukraine at this critical time.
