Russia Strikes Ukraine with Record Number Of Shaheds Since War Began

138 enemy UAVs were shot down.

On the night of February 23, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 267 Shahed-type attack drones and various decoy drones. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

138 UAVs were shot down in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Another 119 Shaheds were lost.

The following regions suffered from the attack: Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava, Kyiv regions, as well as Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.

The head of the communications department at the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Colonel Yuriy Ignat, reported that 267 "shahids" in one attack was a record for the entire period of a full-scale war.

"On the night of February 23, 2025, 267 hostile UAVs were recorded in the skies of Ukraine - a record number for one attack," the publication says.

The head of the Center for Political Studies of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Lieutenant Andrey Kovalenko, recalled that Russia is increasing the production of drones, including "shahids" and other weapons.

"Without control over the Russian defence industry, without conditions for reducing the production of missiles and other types of weapons, any talk that Putin wants to conclude a peace agreement is just an attempt by Russia to deceive everyone," the publication reads.
