Syrsky summed up the results of three years of full-scale war.
In the three years since the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the irretrievable losses of the army of the aggressor state in personnel amount to about 250,000 troops.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky announced on February 24.
"The advance in the east is being given to the occupiers at a high price. In three years, the enemy has lost almost 870,000 soldiers and officers (of which the irretrievable losses of the Russians amount to about 250,000 troops), more than 10.100 tanks, 21.100 combat armored vehicles, 23.300 artillery systems," he said.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine separately noted that "the world did not believe that we would hold out, but the Ukrainian people are worthily holding back the enemy's attacks."
"We defeated the Russian offensive group, pushed the invaders away from Kyiv, liberated the north of Ukraine, the Kharkiv region and Kherson. The Ukrainian Defense Forces returned more than 50% of the territory occupied by the Russians after February 24, 2022, and carried out a number of effective defensive and offensive operations," Syrsky said.
In addition, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine called the Kursk operation of the Defense Forces "a manifestation of the ability to act asymmetrically," which prevented an enemy offensive on the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
"Kyiv, which the Russians sought to obtain "in three days," is still standing three years later. In 2022, the aggressor wanted to cut us off from the sea, preparing to land troops near Odesa. And today, the Russian Black Sea Fleet has effectively ceased to exist — we have driven its remnants into the bays of Novorossiysk. With the support of Western partners and our own efforts, we are strengthening our defensive capabilities, and against the backdrop of the continuation of the defensive operation, we are reorganizing the Armed Forces to increase their effectiveness,” Syrsky concluded.
