Dozens of people have been killed.

Armed gangs have attacked Haiti's capital neighbourhood of Delmas. As a result of the new attack dozens of civilians were killed.

This is reported by Reuters.

It is noted that the militants' attack in the Haitian capital occurred before dawn on Tuesday. According to Western media, the victims of the attack were three dozen people.

After the attack, new residents of the Delmas neighbourhood were forced to flee as gangs continue to operate unchecked in the Caribbean country.

More than 1 million Haitians, about 10 per cent of the Caribbean's most populous country, have been internally relocated due to years of conflict during which heavily armed and financed gangs have expanded and consolidated their control over much of the capital, and surrounding areas.

Speaking to Reuters, residents of the Delmas neighbourhood said they were in panic, and during the attack, militants burned a man ‘in front of his child,’ among other things.

Rosie Auguste Ducena, programme director of local human rights group of RNDDH, said her organisation could not yet estimate the death toll, but there were reports of several people killed or shot at, as well as several houses set on fire.

‘According to the information we have received, armed gangs are rampaging. They attack several areas at the same time and it's always the same modus operandi: killings, arson, gunshot wounds, rapes and so on,’ said Dusena.
