US President Donald Trump has confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will come to Washington on Friday, February 28, to sign a rare earth minerals deal.
“We're doing very well on Russia and Ukraine. President Zelensky is coming on Friday, that's confirmed now, and we're going to sign a rare earths deal and stuff, and it's going to be a very big deal,” Trump said.
He said his administration was “pleased” with the deal, which could give the US access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals as part of broader talks to end the Russian invasion, as well as US participation in a Ukraine reconstruction fund.
“We were able to make a deal where we're going to get our money back, and we're going to get a lot of money in the future, and I think that's the right thing to do,” the US president said.
