He spends most of his time in the hall dedicated to rural life.
Barsik the cat lives and works in the Museum of Belarusian Palesse in Pinsk. The ‘Brest’ TV and Radio Company reported about the furry guide.
Barsik got to the museum three years ago and became a favourite of the staff. The Instagram of the institution said that he appeared in summer and was welcoming visitors on the porch until autumn. The cat had an eye injury and ear lichen, and was treated by the whole staff.
In autumn, when the nights became colder, Barsik never left, and the museum staff decided to take him in for good. The cat was taken to the vet, had all his vaccinations and was left to live in the Jesuit Collegium, in the building where the exposition is located.
‘He was given his own place in the basement, he has very good conditions there. And as of today, there are bowls [with food for the cat] in some of the rooms of the employees, who are particularly fond of him,’ said research assistant Nastassia Krautsova.
«В подвале ему отвели свое место, у него там очень неплохие условия. И уже на сгодняшний день даже в некоторых кабинетах сотрудников, которые его особенно любят, есть мисочки [с едой для кота. – Прим.]», – рассказала научный сотрудник Анастасия Кравцова.
Barsik is also allowed into the museum halls. The tailed employee behaves very decently: he does not disturb visitors and does not attempt to destroy exhibits. And most of all he likes to sleep next to the cradle in the hall dedicated to the life of the Belarusian village.
