German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his likely successor Friedrich Merz declared their support for Ukraine after the scandal in the White House.

Scholz wrote on X (Twitter) that no one wants peace more than the citizens of Ukraine.

“That is why we are working together to find a path to a lasting and fair peace. Ukraine can rely on Germany – and on Europe,” he added.

Merz, who is currently leading the coalition negotiations in Germany, addressed Zelensky and said that Germany is “with Ukraine in good times and in times of trial.”

“We must never confuse the aggressor and the victim in this terrible war,” the politician noted.
