CNN learned details of what happened behind closed doors after a public quarrel between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States and Vice President J.D. Vance at the White House.
According to CNN sources, after the public part of the meeting between Trump and Zelensky ended, the American president and his advisers went into a separate room.
He consulted with Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other advisers.
That's when Trump finally decided that Zelensky was “not in the right place to negotiate” CNN writes, and instructed Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz to convey the message that the Ukrainian president should leave.
