Lukashenka Ratifies Law On Mutual Security Guarantees With Russia

It provides for the deployment of Russian military facilities on the territory of Belarus.

Dictator of Belarus Aliaksandr Lukashenka signed the law “On the ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on security guarantees within the framework of the “union state”, the press service of the usurper reports.

It is noted that the treaty enshrines mutual guarantees for the implementation of necessary measures in the event of attacks on the security of Belarus and Russia, as well as the “union state” as a whole.

“Fulfillment of obligations provides for collective counteraction to unilateral restrictive measures of an economic and other nature, the use by the parties of the potential of their relations with other states and other subjects of international law to prevent attacks on security, the adoption of measures in response not only to committed acts of aggression, but also to threats of their commission, as well as the immediate provision of the necessary military, military-technical and other assistance,” the report says.

The treaty was signed by Lukashenka and Putin in December 2024. It provides for the deployment of Russian military facilities on the territory of Belarus. It also contains provisions on the use of nuclear weapons. On February 28, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a similar law ratifying the treaty.
