CNN: Trump Holds First Talks with Zelensky After White House Confrontation

Washington seeks to renew contacts with Kyiv.

Representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump have held the first informal talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following a verbal confrontation at the White House. They urged Kyiv to restore communication with Washington and sign an agreement on rare earth metals.

According to CNN, Trump’s team emphasised the need to stabilise U.S.-Ukraine relations as soon as possible. American officials had been pushing for this even before Trump’s speech in Congress.

One of the individuals who spoke with Zelensky was Trump's Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg.
